TMSA & OCIMF – Internal Auditor

Founded in 1970 the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) is a voluntary association of oil companies having an interest in the storage and handling of crude oil and petroleum products, petrochemicals, and gas, and includes companies engaged in offshore marine operations supporting oil and gas exploration, development and production. Its establishment is considered to be a response to the growing public concern about marine pollution, created by accidents, involving tanker ships, especially after the Torrey Canyon incident in 1967. OCIMF has a rich portfolio of tools including Tanker Management and Self-Assessment tool (TMSA). TMSA is a management standard based on KPIs and consequent documentation. The module introduces the attendees to the scheme and requirements of TMSA, as well as its practical implementation in the tankers management sector. Special attention is given to the distinct levels (four in total) of the TMSA structure and the importance that it has in relation to the chartering of tanker vessels. Attendees of the seminar will be able to:
  • Understand the key aspects and functions of OCIMF.
  • Understand TMSA requirements in terms of its regulatory and inspection requirements and procedures.
  • Understand and maintain key documentation related to TMSA and its compliance requirements.
  • Appreciate its applicability to all shipping sectors
