ISM Code – Internal Auditor

SCOPE OF THE COURSE

The Course lies on the need for the development of in-house or independent ISM Auditors capable to carry out all the necessary steps for the successful compliance and documentation of any shipping company that manages or operates vessels of any type. All the aspects of ISM Code Provisions are examined, while a number of case studies and practical references are used to strengthen the understanding of Attendees.

INSTRUCTOR

Mr. Constantinos E. Avtzigiannis has graduated from the University of Macedonia and has completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Wales (Postgraduate Diploma in Port & Shipping Administration) and at the University of Manchester (M.Sc in International Business Management). He posses numerous professional certifications from Classification Societies (Bureau Veritas, DNV – GL, LRS, NKK), USCG, and the University of Portsmouth. He has worked in Operations and Quality / Safety Departments of ship management companies and from early 1994 he is an independent consultant in Safety / Quality / Security Management in shipping and land industries, working also as DPA/CSO/MLC Manager in ship management companies. He is Management Systems Lead Auditor (non-exclusive) for BUREAU VERITAS CERTIFICATION since 2009 and previously has worked also for DNV in the same capacity. Amongst his other professional undertakings is lecturing in shipping studies colleges. In the past, articles of his, covering issues related to maritime history, safety & environmental protection, and maritime security have been published in professional magazines.
